Tokusatsu in Review: Kamen Rider Blade (introduction/Part 1)
Shinta delves into the origins of Kamen Rider's most memetically-powerful series And it's mixedly-received base...And also discusses the role and consequences a show where half it's cast couldn't competently deliver their lines had to its translation back when the only way to actually translate something was to listen to what the actors were saying.
PLEASE NO REPLIES ABOUT TRANSLATION PREFERENCES; WE COULD CARE LESS WHO YOU USE AS YOUR SOURCE OF SUBTITLES, THIS IS JUST CLARIFYING OUR POSITION FOR THOSE WHO KEEP ASKING. WE REALLY, REALLY DISLIKE UNNECESSARY CREATIVE LIBERTIES REGARDLESS OF WHO COMMITS THEM, AND CONSIDER THEM WORSE THAN LEGITIMATE ERRORS AS THEY ARE CONSCIOUS CHOICES TO BE WRONG INSTEAD OF AN ACCIDENTAL MISTAKE OR ATTEMPT TO PRESERVE THE NARRATIVE. MISTAKES ARE FORGIVABLE, PRESERVING INTENT EVEN IF ONE MESSES UP IS UNDERSTANDABLE, DELIBERATELY CHOOSING TO BE WRONG IS NEITHER.
Blade begins the Battle Fight with a trio of Riders fighting over the right to battle monsters to add to their deck of playing cards. And yet no-one sees fit to summon the Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
