RECENT EVENTS:
Sooo~o Yeah, the Blip Purges hit.
If you have no Idea what that Is, Essentially starting on October 2013, Blip.TV Locked out and set a 1-moth deadline to offload all episodes before they begin removing free producer accounts that had not been approved for their full producer system in November , essentailly every account they refused to put on their search engines to showcase their series. beforehand
And My show was one of those that was taken down.
I have since reapplied to Blip for their full producer system, as I do every month, but this time I got a response: I've been refused due to low audio and video quality.
Audio quality I sort of understood, I've been struggling with that for some time to clean up the audio and not have my vocal issues come into play. It's mostly worked out.
But Video surprised me. As I DO clean up my footage a lot in editting. it might be because I applied with a low-quality version of an upcoming episode which fit their submission size (max 400mb, MY average file size for an episode is around 700 MB). I e-mailed them for clarification and ways to further improve my current equipment to meet their qualifications, but nothing yet.
Really, this is both a good and bad thing. It's the third sign that My show, despite the poor viewing figures, Does not Suck. You have no Idea how much I worry about that. (the other two were my infrequent chats with Book reviewer Michael Gleason on production woes, you can find his show Here; and actually getting word from a fan that he likes my stuff)
So. Where does that leave me NOW?
I have produced episodes for through the end of the year, minus three of the December specials which will be completed before the end of October. I'm researching ways to further improve quality, and I will be submitting my review of Super Hero Taisen Z as part of my next Blip Application in Early November. I'm waiting on the Subs (and finishing my playthrough of Pokemon X) to start that project, and what I've seen should leave plenty open for nitpicking.
In the meantime, I have uploaded the core relevant episodes of RPG Hell, Tokusatsu in Review, and .hack//Retrospective to an account on Dailymotion. Which you can Find HERE
I will attempt once more to upload things to youtube, but considering Youtube is rampant with DMCA takedowns that Violate free use (and that I've been flagged before, why I don't have an archive over there) I'm not rushing towards it.
I have not uploaded everything. My year 1 and mvoie reviews (Back to the future, evil dead movies, Guyver, Bunraku,) as well as the Onimusha reviews have not gone up. partly for quality, partly because I'd rather not risk being flagged again and face digital oblivion.
Blip videos from the blog archive will be removed and replaced with the Dailymotion variant in the next two weeks if a matching video has been uploaded
I have also applied for Dailymotion's own producer monetization system, but I believe it to be more like Youtube's monetization system, which apparently has high standards for what qualifies as "Original", and undefined standards for "Fair Use for review purposes". So if you could, please take a look at the older videos over on Dailymotion to pad the viewcount a bit for their records in consideration, I would be grateful.
And lastly, I have added a Donation Button. You can see it over on the right. Really didn't want to, but..well, this is as close to a job as I've got. And I don't want to mooch off my parents to continue doing this more than I have to while I'm no longer getting ad revenue.
If you have any tips or suggestions on further improvement to audio and video quality, please state something in the comments.
With respect to Donations:
Okay, this is how this'll work. As It's through Paypal, payers have the option of listing a message on payment they send, such as special instructions. Any person who offers a donation; please leave a listing of a video you're looking forward to, Or hope I'll put up on the que. I will list you as a Special thanks and Special producer on the related episodes.
Any Donation of $50 or more will have the related subject bumped to the front of the production que.
Admittedly, some will not have that capability to be pushed ahead of the que. While it will be prioritized, if there's something I have to talk about before-hand, it's not going to be instantly out. So if, say you donate to get Kamen Rider Kabuto talked about. I'm still going to have to get through Kuuga, Agito, Ryuki, faiz, Blade, and Hibiki before I can do it. But You'll bump one of the other segments from a production block, and get your name on the producer credits for those.
As Incentive, these are the subjects I intend to talk about in the coming year (2014):
.Hack//Retrospective:
legend of the twilight Bracelet
.Hack//Enemy
.Hack//Roots
.Hack//G.U.: Rebirth
.Hack//G.U.: Reminisce
.Hack//G.U.: Redemption
RPG Hell:
Digimon: Digital Card Battle
Digimon World 3
Final Fantasy X
Final fantasy IV
Mass Effect 2
Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories
Tokusatsu in review:
Rurouni Kenshin
Chojin Sentai Jetman
Kamen Rider Kuuga
Kamen Rider Agito
Kamen Rider Ryuki
Kamen Rider Dragon Knight
Please note, this list is subject to change, and may be shuffled if any donations of high enough value are made.
With respect to Sentai reviews
I will be stating this again when I release the first sentai-subjected review, but since I'm doing this update blog anyways: I will not be approaching Super sentai in the same way I have Kamen Rider. With Kamen Rider, the majority of the Subtitles have already been filled in, so I viewed it as an easy way to go in chronoligical order with advertising and critiquing a Tokusatsu series.
However, Super Sentai is a lot more heavily fragmented. A Fair chunk of both the Showa AND Heisei era's for the shows are missing translations, so It is a lot more difficult to try and do things from order. Thus...I'm not going to try. Sentai is sentai, and I'm going to do it series by series. In no particular order.
I will Try and leave Gokaiger for after I've talked about the 34 series that lead up to it to best convey the full impact of That series and why it is so great...But with Power Rangers Super Megaforce coming in 2014, and knowing the incompetence of the current Saban production team...I believe I'll need to talk about everything that's wrong with it by 2015. If not, I intend to do Zyuranger that year.
That's all I got. Thanks for reading.
