The yugioh reviews return with the first arc of the second anime series, the one most people have seen....and just a small snippet of how bad the dub actually is when one learns of what they changed.

i do have one question about this version of the arc, why doesn't anyone notice when atem was in control of yuugi's body? it made sense in the manga as there they were allredy aware of that, and i thought it was the same thing here, but yuugi's duel with bakura and his second one with pegasus both say they weren't, so how didn't they notice that something was off? even in the manga and the toei anime they did sometimes notice that something was a bit off about yuugi (the watherpark episode of the anime and in the second encounter with shadi in the manga) so why not here?

DeleteAwesome review as always. I never really liked the Duelist Kingdom arc all that much, and yes it is because of the bullshit rules the card game setup. Heck back at that time, when I was playing the card game with my friends, they actually believed the rules and effects of the cards in the Duelist Kingdom arc is legit, thus making the game too one-sided, and don't get me started when they used God cards in the duel.
ReplyDeleteAlso I really hated 4kids "localizations", and yes that includes Pokemon, not because of the script but because of the music and sound effects, I like the OP song of the original Japanese version, in fact I like EVERY OP song of the Japanese Pokemon anime, call me a weeb or whatever, but I don't care.
It is too bad while almost everyone acknowledges how bad 4kids screw up original source materials, that sort of practice is still being used today and some even turn a blind eye on it, Nintendo Treehouse's localization is the biggest contender to that.
Fire emblem fates, right? Yeah, that's why I did mention that it's not limited to 4K. And I totally understand what you mean about the opening hings. The majority of them suck. the instrusmentals however I'm more lenient to, but not in replacement to what there already was.
DeleteNot only Fire Emblem Fates, but also Tokyo Mirage Sessions, which is a JRPG that is almost like Persona with Fire Emblem characters as the Persona.
