Shinta's Take on Yugioh: Duelist kingdom Finals

Duelist kingdom wraps with many more context shifts for characters in their original version, and a lot of cards that were later expanded into their own really cool archetypes.

  1. so who thought it was a good idea to completeley rewrite the DDD arc from the manga? i mean, it wasn't anything special, but it was a well told story and served as an efective bridge between duelist kingdom and battle city, hell, they even went as far as to rerwite ryuji's entire character, though speaking of gun censors in the dub, isn't it ironic that in the manga keith dies because of a finger gun?

  2. The Toon World card's effect known by ignorant card players whose knowledge is only from the anime, " All monster cards are protected and cannot be attacked or effected by Magic, Trap and Effect cards as long as the Toon World card is on the field." Making duels nearly impossible to play, the Toon Cards sucks!

You want to watch an episode where the duels commentators can get so overblown, watch the Yu-Gi-Oh parody episode of Akiba's Strip the Animation, god I love that anime.

And thanks for skimming through the filler arcs and go straight to the Battle City Arc where the real duels finally begin, as well as introducing some of my most favorite cards in the franchise, gender bend Dark Magician FTW!

    1. To be fair, No-one remembered to Put Anti-spell/trap cards in their decks back in those days, so it's not like they had something that would EASILY blow that thing up. Toon Kingdom, the retrained Toon World, is a LOT closer to that full-on effect, but not as seemingly broken.
Though As I've said, A LOT of the effects IN Duelist kingdom were bullshit, as from solely the card-game duel perspective? Kazuki Takahashi's writing of them could be exceedingly terrible.
