Tokusatsu in Review: Kamen Rider Taisen

Shinta loses complete objectivity in reviewing the latest Credit on Shoji Yonemura’s resume, and what can be viewed as the worst Kamen Rider movie yet made.

Before beginning this review, please note that I had a very volatile reaction to this movie as I could simply not comprehend the Showa Riders acting the way they do in this film simply from my experiences with their series, and that is reflected in my words and actions in reviewing this movie. If you love it, think it's a good Film?
Stop. Here.
You like it, but think it has flaws? I still caution you away. To me this was an Idiot Plot, and my criticisms are reflective of such.

  1. Great job with this review. Quite frankly, this was better then mine. Mostly in that it was more critical of pointing out the movies flaws, I was mostly going for humor, but that's just me. Also, thanks for that Judas Traveler joke. b^.^d.

  2. Great review. I totally agreed with your opinion on this movie and cross-overs in general. This is the reason why I dislike cross-overs in general. While there are some good stuff made, and I can tolerate cross-overs in games because I can just ignore the story and focus on the gameplay, most cross-overs I watch disregard story continuity and characters to the point of stupidity and insulting to the audience. And the "Its a kids show" reason is not a valid excuse.

Hell, if you think this is the worst thing that Toei ever produced, try watching any Precure cross-over movies as well as the current series Happiness Charge, and see how ridiculously stupid, cheap and insulting it is.

The only cross-over movie franchise that I honestly enjoyed that doesn't ruined any story continuity or characters is the Ultraman franchise. I highly recommend that you checked them out. Best part is its not made from Toei.

    1. Ultraman's on my list, I keep getting recommendations for it.
      Next. Year.
and Not every crossover--even from Toei--is bad I really like the movie war and VS movies for kamen Rider and Super sentai. But they need the right people writing.

  3. Looking back at this after watching Kamen Rider Yongou... Yonemura actually had a planned sub plot for Faiz that would span across two rider seasons. Involving him dying after the end of Kamen Rider 555. The only reason why he was a live was because shocker's history altering machine from Super Hero Taisen GP 3.

Of course, that's fixing a plot hole to make a d-video special have a better plot then it actually does.

    1. No, No He really was that fucking Ignorant, and had no involvement in Yongou's special that Tried to Fix what Yonemura Fucked up and everyone else had been ignoring. That was written by Nobuhiro Mouri, the secondary writer of OOO and Gaim.
thus, I continue to award Yonemura negative points.

  6. Well, I just finished re-watching the Imagination Station fansubbed version of this movie with the Heisei-era ending, and yeah. I mean, this movie is "okay". I mean, it's not the best that the Super Hero Taisen movies have to offer, but I'm not gonna say that it's one of the "best" kamen rider movies that I've ever seen in years. It's just "okay" for me. But, I suppose that it's more watchable than the first Super Hero Taisen movie and Super Hero Taisen GP?!

    1. Imagination Stations work contains heavy localizations that are not reflective of the original dialogue stated in the content they subtitle. To trust their version of events is a bad Idea at best, and I have blacklisted them due to the bullshit they have pulled in the past. If anything, they watered down how awful it was.
But as I kept reiterating in this review, it's an insult of everything the showa riders ever stood for or had happen to them, to the point This movie reached the point of being so popularly reviled IT WAS RETCONNED OUT OF EXISTENCE. That happened thanks to the events that resolved 2015's Taisen movie. hell, Toei made motions to apologize to Hiroshi Fujioka though the 2016 Ichigo film by giving him a bit of creative input and a cowriting credit...;and they still botched it. Time has shown this is not only not a good movie, it's been accepted as the worst Kamen Rider movie.
