That is, in fact, not how keyholes work. The keyholes are actually portals to their respective worlds' "heart. it is the job of Sora to find and lock them before the Heartless can use the portals to infect the heart of the world with darkness, which is bad.
That was in no way clear from anything I saw presented in this game, but thank you for that clarification, and my apologies. Though...If the heart of a world is connected to Kingdom hearts...and the heartless originate FROM Kingdom Hearts...then isn't that the same thing? 'Cause that's the logic I was running off of.
To answer how they got James Woods for this...and the rest of the series, they didn't have to try at all. The guy LOVES doing Hades so much that, if I remember right, he's stated to do it for free. Not so sure about the free part, but regardless, he's made clear that he's open to be Hades anytime.
